Net Step is a hosting reseller. We lease servers from a big company that sits on the multipl Internet trunk lines to provide maximum reliability and performance.

Since 2004, we have been leasing servers at Rackspace, a top-of-the-line hosting provider. Unfortunately, their business model has shifted over the year to push everyone into their "Cloud" infrsatructure. While the cloud is cool, Rackspace had a very hands-off approach. Their system was slick but they didn't provide any support past guaranteeing the network would be running. As a "managed hosting customer" we partnered with Rackspace to make sure they could solve anything we could not and provide a 24/7/365 backstop for our customers.

They basically abandoned the managed server division and provided very little support. We hired our own technicians, but that was driving our costs way up so we had to look for alternatives.

In January, 2015 we found an outstanding provider called They are in the "big enough to do the job but small enough to care" category. This rapidly growing company with the funky name proivdes excellent 24/7 service and we have access to their support staff instantly through multiple channels.

Our decision to move from Rackspace was not taken lightly because, though their quality of service had declined, there is comfort in familiarity. None the less, aver a month of testing in January we made the move, and things have been going great since.

At Net Step, we take our responsibility to provide fast reliable website hosting for our clients very seriously. Our site is on the same servers as our clients. Since we're neighbors, if you are having trouble, so are we, and most of the time we're already working on resolving the problem by the time you noitce the issue.
